The farmhouse Villa Maria, a few kilometers from the main tourist routes of the Amalfi Coast, is situated on the slopes of a hill overlooking the picturesque bay of Minori.
The farm is surrounded by an ancient lemon grove that intoxicates visitors with the scent of citrus blossoms and the typical Sfusato Amalfitano lemon, the undisputed star of the landscape and a focal point of the local culinary tradition. In fact, thanks to the fragrance and the beauty of its lemon and orange groves, Minori was named the “Narcissus of the Amalfi Coast”.
In addition to lemons, great care is dedicated to the vegetable garden, as well as olive trees and vines – grown in an adjoining field – which produce a fragrant extra virgin olive oil and wine of excellent quality.
Staying at Villa Maria also means knowing the history of the small town of Minori, perhaps less well-known than nearby Amalfi, Ravello and Positano but which has kept the old time charm that lives on the narrow alleys, the ancient buildings and important ruins of the past, like the famous Roman villa – a patrician residence dating back to the first century AD – the Convent of San Nicola (XI) on the mountain above us and the remains of the nearby Campanile of the Annunziata (XII), vestige of an ancient Moorish settlement, all of them within easy walking distance of Villa Maria.
Minori, once populated with mills and pasta factories, is a UNESCO site and is known as the “City of Flavour” famous for pasta-making. N’dunderi, large dumplings made with ricotta cheese, and Scialatielli, thick ribbons of fresh pasta, are a specialty of Minori. Maria has a unique recipe for lemon n’dunderi. All are absolutely divine!
The calm and comfortable environment, the simple and genuine cuisine, combined with the friendliness of the owners, make Villa Maria a place dedicated to those who want to discover the essence of the most authentic campanian hospitality.
The farmhouse can be reached on foot through a copse and approximately eighty steps leading to the rooms and the restaurant. We recommend that our guests communicate their arrival time so that we may assist them with their luggage. From the town centre, which is approximately 1 km, there is a minibus service that runs daily every hour (times are subject to change depending on the season).
